On August 1, 2015, Christopher Jamthagen emailed Eric Lombrozo and Rusty Russell discussing the possibility of stealing money from a hub. Rusty Russell mentioned that outsourcing requires a new sighash op mode or normalized txids which cannot be deployed today. Lombrozo suggested having a third party notify when a cheating transaction occurs to avoid monitoring the network.
