A member of the Bitcoin Developer mailing list, Emil Engler, proposed the idea of regularly resetting the testnet. This topic was discussed previously and feedback was given in June 2019. Recently, new information has been shared regarding signet, an alternative to testnet. The links to all the previous discussions and new material were provided in the email.
