In an email conversation on October 28, 2013, Andreas Schildbach questioned whether the discussion around message codes in Bitcoin protocol included ACK messages, as well as REJECT messages. However, it was suggested that including ACK messages would require a significant increase in the protocol's bandwidth requirements. Therefore, it was decided not to include them in the discussion.
