The concept of incentivized predictability is crucial when designing low-level protocols like Bitcoin. The full-rbf feature ensures that the higher fee-paying transaction replaces the lower fee one, regardless of who sees it first. However, opt-in RBF can allow spamming the network to beat out the alternative, making predictability necessary. Deeper, network-wide predictability can have beneficial knock-on effects that are difficult to predict. The "sabu" protocol could even work if full-rbf becomes the norm.
