In November 2013, Alan Reiner expressed his approval of the XBT idea. He believed that it made a lot of sense to match the ISO standards. Jeff also agreed with Alan and suggested that the decimal place move would be an excellent time to make the switch. This conversation suggests that the use of XBT instead of BTC would align Bitcoin with ISO standards.
