In response, it was argued that user-agent strings can be valuable in cases where a popular client is found with a subtle bug and cannot otherwise be differentiated from similar-functionality clients. The use of user-agent strings has been found helpful in dealing with minor bugs when enabling new functionality or behavior on Eligius.
