Summary:

Sancho has submitted the generalized versionbits specification for BIP number assignment, which can be found on GitHub under pull request #532. Feedback and comments are welcome. The updated spec now includes a link to the reference implementation. Sancho plans to find time soon to produce a similar reference implementation on Bitcoin Core.
