The Lightning Network's killer use case is micro-payments for online network services rather than buying coffees. Establishing a channel with each peer is costly, but using the LN for micro-payment of high-quality peer services would work well. It would be ideal if this protocol was ready alongside the LN to incentivize full nodes further, making the network more strongly DDOS resistant.
