Andreas Schildbach suggested teaching the seeder or bitcoind to write a zone file and then using matured DNS servers to serve this zone. However, this approach was used previously and caused bad load imbalances, especially since some resolvers only pass on a single result. This was before there was a wide deployment of broken client software that trusted the dnsseeds exclusively.
