Tamas Blummer, founder of bitcoind developer Bits of Proof, has praised Jeff Garzik's recent proposal for Bitcoin's new BIP 176 abbreviation standard that would see "XBT" used instead of "BTC". Blummer believes that the move to establish XBT as the ISO code for bits would be an excellent one. In a related article, BitPay explained why it had decided not to use XBT, but this does not detract from the general support garnered by Garzik's proposal.
