In an email exchange from 2015, Adam Back expressed concern about Gavin Andresen's lack of understanding of the basics of the Lightning Network, stating that he needed to do a better job of explaining it. Even if the Lightning Network was better in terms of security and decentralization, Andresen argued that it was still in the whitepaper stage and far from being practically implemented, with bigger blocks needed even if it became successful.
