The Bitcoin Core developer and open source evangelist Jeff Garzik is considering the implementation of setting nLockTime on wallet-created transactions by default. He believes that this would be a good practice for wallets in the long term. The proposed change can be found on the GitHub pull request #2340. Garzik's employer, BitPay, Inc., is a bitcoin payment service provider.
