The author of an email is wondering how a per-node imposed max block size limit would affect orphan rates and reorgs in absence of a hard limit. They believe it would be useful to know the impact of such a limit on a node's ability to accept all incoming blocks while refusing to relay any above a specified size. The author is not a coder and is hoping someone capable will pursue this data.
