In a conversation on July 24, 2013, Wendell asked Luke about the presence of a substantial barrier to endian independence in the Bitcoin codebase. Luke replied that there was an 'endian' branch in his repo but it still didn't work when he moved on. He also mentioned that he had not yet figured out why it was not working.
