In a recent discussion, Gavin Andresen expressed interest in porting more tests into a data-driven format. While check*sig tests are tricky to implement due to the need for specific unspent transactions and private keys, ideas on a simple data-driven format are welcome. Block verification tests, including good and bad block chains starting from a common chain such as testnet3 tesnet-in-a-box, would also be useful for regression testing. Overall, Andresen welcomes more tests and is willing to contribute pull requests in that direction.
