NIST 8202 Blockchain Technology Overview

Summary:

On January 29, 2018, Dylan Yaga of the Federal government responded to feedback on section 8.1.2 of NIST 8202 Blockchain Technology Overview. This section discusses Bitcoin Cash (BCH), a hard fork of the Bitcoin blockchain that occurred in 2017. While Bitcoin adopted an improvement proposal for Segregated Witness (SegWit) through a soft fork, developers of Bitcoin Cash decided to increase the blocksize instead. This led to a group of users having access to the same amount of coins on Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash after the hard fork occurred. The revised section was sent to reviewers for further comment to promote transparency.
