The BIP70 only briefly explains what a PaymentACK is in response to a Payment message. It is unclear whether it indicates receipt of a syntactically correct payment, validity of the payment or both. Furthermore, it is uncertain how long an Acknowledgement can be delayed until all conditions for payment are met. However, it is not recommended to keep an HTTP or Bluetooth connection open for an extended period while waiting for blockchain confirmation.
