On December 16, 2013, Drak suggested that wallets should implement a confirmation box to prevent an unfortunate situation where the fee amount is too high. The proposed confirmation box would be triggered if the fee amount is over ten times the default fee or greater than a certain percentage of the sending amount. In response, Wladimir mentioned that Bitcoin-qt always shows the fee and total amount to be paid in the confirmation dialog, making it difficult to accidentally pay a very high fee.
