In August 2015, a discussion took place on the bitcoin-dev mailing list regarding concerns about "asymmetric" rule incompatibilities. Milly Bitcoin questioned those who previously claimed that Bitcoin development is decentralized because anyone can fork the code, and now seem to believe that forking would destroy everything. Bryan clarified that nobody has ever disagreed with the fact that a source code repository can be forked.
