Summary:

Christian Bodt proposed a bitcoin protocol improvement where a request/reply ID is added in all messages, based on what was done for the "checksum" field. Gavin Andresen agrees that it is a reasonable improvement and asks for other opinions. The email exchange was dated April 11, 2012.
